The Successful Remediation of the Fungus Amongus continuing education course will be presented to insurance professionals as a study of fungus (mold) development as a consequence of water damage to a structure and how it affects the repair process and the health of the occupants.
The course will be presented in a classroom style. It will be in an open forum allowing for questions and answers as the class progresses.
After completing the course, the licensee should have knowledge of the information they can use to protect the health, welfare, and safety of the policy holder, and to reduce the cost of a loss from fungi (mold) contamination that results from a covered loss such as water damage.
Statement of Expected Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understand what fungus (mold) is and how to identify it.
- Understand fungus remediation protocol and protection. This includes interpretation of data and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and containment.
- Discuss regulations and relate them to industry standards.
- Discuss prevention through loss mitigation (water, heating ventilation air conditioning systems, environmental concerns), contingency planning (corporate and local), and litigation concerns.
- Understand information that can be used to protect the health, welfare, and safety of the policy holder, and reduce the cost of a loss from fungi (mold) contamination that results from a covered loss such as water damage.
