Party At Your Place?!

Superbowl Tips

Okay, so we are all aware that Super Bowl Sunday is quickly approaching us. This means you are likely to have people over for the traditional super bowl parties and you need to prepare! Everyone wants their house to look its best when they know people are on the way.  You don’t want people walking in, taking one look around and thinking you’re a slob, so here is what you need to do before your party.

Early in the week, you can start to do little things around the house so it won’t be such a daunting task when game day approaches. Pick up around the house; make sure there are no lingering odors to scare your guests away. (If you’re having trouble, of course Rainbow International is always here for you!) The kitchen and living room are likely to be the high activity areas, so get them presentable.

Aside from the cleaning, obviously you are going to need to hit the store. I secretly believe the reason people like the super bowl so much is just because it gives them an excuse to eat the deliciously-bad-for-you “football” food! Traditional menu items for the big day include nachos, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, varieties of chips and dips, chicken wings, and a selection of desserts.  Pick out the recipes you are going for and hit up your local grocery store. We all know the food can make or break the party, so choose your menu items wisely!

Now for the game day atmosphere. If you want to go all out, make an effort to set the mood. After all, we need the aura to be just right so our team will win!  Decorate the house in the colors of your favored team. Buy paper plates and silverware in the proper colors—make signs cheering on your team. These types of things are what helps people get excited about the game! It makes the atmosphere a lot more fun and exciting when people are putting their all into their team.

So now when the day comes, you will be ready. Your team has been preparing for it, and so have you.  As for the game, that’s out of your hands but at least you know you and all your guests are going to have a great time experiencing it together in your decked out home.

The Morning After: The Undercover Boss Experience

January 23rd, 2012 by Rainbow International

The Dwyer Group CEO goes Unddercover

After airing on last night’s episode of CBS’s hit TV show Undercover Boss, The Dwyer Group is experiencing some great feedback! Hundreds of people were moved to tears during our touching episode where we watched our CEO Dina Dwyer experience her company from the bottom up. People have been posting their reactions on Twitter with some great commentary about the show.

@alananewhouse “Best #UnderCoverBoss ever. Dina Dwyer-Owens should be sainted.”

@AmberRice “Congrats on tonight’s episode. Dina is a great example of a female CEO #undercoverboss

@paulshincapie “Just cried in Waco hall at undercover boss. #undercoverboss

Dina Dwyer -Owens went undercover as Faith Brown, pretending to be a woman considering a career change in several of the franchisees shops in our Dwyer Group sister companies. She endured training as a basic level employee at Mr. Rooter, Mr. Electric, The Grounds Guys, and Mr. Appliance. During her training she discovered how each of these franchises function and whether her idea of how the businesses should be functioning was actually a reality.

Overall, she was pleasantly surprised with what she found and generously rewarded the employees who helped train her. She also put a large emphasis on our Code of Values and wanted to ensure that the franchisees were following through with the steps at each of their jobs. A large part of the success The Dwyer Group has been achieved by being a customer-centric company and having strong attention to detail on each one of their service jobs.

At Rainbow International, our Code of Values comes to life in our business every day.  Respect, integrity, customer focus and having fun in the process are the values we live by in this company and thankfully it is apparent across the nation as seen in Undercover Boss.

Winter Woes: Frozen Pipes

Winter Woes: Bursting Pipes

January and February are some of the coldest months of the year. Many times temperatures are near freezing leaving you bundled up by the fire in the comfort of your home.  Pleasant memories can come from winter wonders with friends and family over cups of hot cocoa, however, nothing is less pleasant than the disaster of frozen pipes bursting in your home on a winter day. This year it is estimated that a quarter of a million households will be affected by frozen pipes. A crack about an eighth of an inch long in a pipe can release more than 200 gallons of water daily. Imagine how much damage can occur in your home being sloshed with 200 gallons of water? What a disaster!

What causes your pipes to bust is the result of water expanding as it begins to freeze, creating an excess of pressure within the pipe. In order for you to avoid the stress and destruction caused by a busted pipe, there are several things you can do to avert disaster. Leaving your faucets dripping keeps the water flowing, ensuring there is not a pressure build up within the pipes. Also, you should set the temperature in your home above 60 degrees at all times in effort to keep the pipes warmer. Opening cabinet doors under the sinks also helps to allow heat to circulate.

It is especially important that you make sure to wrap any exposed pipes that exist in unheated areas with insulating tape or electric heat tape. Unheated areas usually are found in the attic, garage, or basement—the main culprits for frozen pipes. In the case that you find yourself with a frozen pipe emergency, you can react quickly and try to thaw out the pipe to stop it from bursting. Using a blow drier to try to thaw out the most frozen section can be very helpful. You should never attempt to defrost a pipe by use of open flame.

If you notice water leaking from the pipe, shut off the water as soon as possible to minimize water damage. In the case that you find yourself in a situation with a busted pipe this winter, the service professionals at Rainbow International can help you restore any signs of unwanted water damage that occurred in your home.
